A mechanic was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in prison after he told a city court that he chopped his boss because he wasn’t paid for his work.
Seon Bobb, called “Banks,” pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding Anthony Allen on September 9th at High Street, Werk-en-Rust.
When addressing the court, Bobb told Senior Magistrate Leron Daly that he had worked with Allen as a mechanic several times and that on the day in question, Allen told him that he was not going to get paid for the work he did.
He explained that it was not the first time Allen had told him so and that he got upset, went home and returned with a cutlass, which he used to chop Allen across the shoulder.
According to information provided by Police Prosecutor Christopher Morris, both Bobb and Allen are mechanics. On the day in question the two mechanics were working on a minibus together and after they had finished, Allen refused to pay Bobb. It was reported that Bobb left and went home, retrieved a cutlass and returned to where Allen was still inspecting the bus.
Bobb approached Allen from behind and chopped him with the cutlass across his left side shoulder. He also chased Allen around the bus demanding to be paid.
The matter was then reported and Bobb was arrested.
After listening to Bobb and the police prosecutor, the magistrate told Bobb he should have gone to the police rather than taking the matter into his own hands. She then sentenced Bobb to 18 months in prison.
