Despite rain washing out the entire first session of the second day of the Georgetown Cricket Association/Star Party Rental/GISE/ Trophy Stall first-division, two-day competition, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) still defeated Guyana Defence Force (GDF) by an innings and 142 runs.
Resuming yesterday at GCC on 274-2, the hosts went on to pile up 323-4 before declaring.
They then dismissed the visitors for a paltry 94 in 28 overs before tea on the second day.
Overnight batsmen, Leon Johnson and Mavindra Dindyal resumed their partnership which they took to 176 runs before Dindyal was trapped leg before wicket by former Guyana under-19 seamer, Joshua Jones. He added just eight runs to his overnight score, making 68 from 78 balls.
Vice-captain Johnson, 70 overnight, finished on an unbeaten century from 123 balls. His innings was decorated with seven fours and six sixes as he followed up his double century last weekend with three figure score.
The declaration came at the fall of Ronaldo Ali-Mohamed’s wicket off the bowling of Leon Andrews who ended with 3-88.
When GDF batted, left-arm spinner, Stephon Wilson was into the middle order early on trapping Kurt Lovell leg before wicket while Timothy Mc Almont and Andrews were run out for nine and seven respectively.
Damion Waldron resisted with a 37-ball 22 and Randy Lindore made 19 and Jones, 20, with two sixes.
Wilson ended with 5-45.
