Veteran golfer Rabindranath ‘Pandit Ravi’ Persaud along with Patrick Prashad and Maxim `Danny’ Mangra showed their class when the inaugural Crown [Mining] ECO tournament was held Saturday.
The 0-9 handicap “A” Flight was won by Prashad with a 67/9 performance. He was trailed by Kassim Khan (68/9) while Mike Mangal (70/9), Avinash Persaud (71/2), Aleem Hussain (73/9) and Alfred Mentore (73/9) rounded out the other top positions.
In the 10-18 handicap “B” Flight Ravi, 63/18, edged Deoram Dinanath for the top spot He was crowned overall champion with a net of 63.
Notable performances in that category came from Satrohan Tiwari (67/18), Shanella London (68/15), Parmanand Persaud (70/12), Bridgelall Harry (70/16), Lekhnarine Shivraj (70/16), William Walker (71/12), Brian Glasford (71/17), Hilbert Shields (72/16), Bholawram Deo (72/18), Pur Persaud (73/15) and Ian Gouveia (73/15).
Meanwhile, in the 19–28 “C” Flight, Mangra (71/19) secured the top spot, with Pope Emmanuel London the runner up with 72/20.
Guillermo Escarraga (74/22), Miguel Oviedo (74/28), Carlos Adams (82/26), Brian Hackett (83/21), Mario Acuna (87/28), and Eureka Giddings (87/28) also impressed.
Nearest The Pin was won by Shanella London, and Longest Drive was won by Avinash Persaud who also had Best Gross of 73.
A minute’s silence was observed and bells tolled in honour of the late Nazeem ‘Papo’ Haniff, former Lusignan Club Coach who passed away last Tuesday.
LGC president Hussain, also informed the golfers that 2 golf carts are now available at the Club – an addition to enhance Club equipment.
