The resumption of the cricket action in the City has been affected by the bad weather.
As a result, the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) was only able to schedule one fixture for the weekend which will see the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) battling against the Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) in the GISE, Star Party Rental, first-division, two-day tournament.
The two will clash from today at GCC, Bourda.
GCC, who have already completed two resounding wins this season against the University of Guyana and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), will fancy their chances against GYO who will be playing their first match of the new season.
Left-arm spinner Trevon France, who is expected to do the bulk of GYO’s bowling, will come up against the likes of Leon Johnson – who has scored two unbeaten centuries over the past two weekends – Jeetendra Sookdeo, Robin Bacchus, and Mavindra Dindyal who are all in some measure of form.
GCC’s potent bowling attack will be spearheaded by Ronaldo Ali – Mohammed, Stephon Wilson and Bernard Bailey. The trio will be expected to create plenty of discomfort for the Woolford Avenue GYO unit. First ball bowls off from 10:30hrs.
