A host of sponsors have thrown their support behind Flying Ace Cycling Club’s Balram Narine as he looks to make his Tour of Tobago dream a reality.
The 21-year-old rider has quickly moved up the ranks after making his debut a little over two years ago and his coach, Randolph Roberts, has high hopes for the wheelsman.
“Narine has been one of the most outstanding young riders not only in Berbice but the country in recent past,” said Roberts pointing to his victory in the first race of the year as well as consistent placings in numerous other events.
Roberts labelled Narine “the best rider in the club.”
Most recently, Dr Dhanraj Budhai has joined the long list of sponsors by purchasing the ticket for the rider to go to the October 1-6 event.
Also providing support to help Narine realise his dream are Dr Hans Hanoman, Fix it Electronics, Gossai and Gossai law firm, Counsel Mursaline Bacchus who is also the second vice-president of Flying Ace, the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam, Corriverton and Rose Hall as well as the Regional Democratic Council of Region Six. Speaking to Stabroek Sport, Narine said he was confident in his ability.
He said that he has put in extensive work on the saddle for the past few months and admitted that he is not at all worried to ride by himself since that is what his preparations entailed.
He is, however, adamant that he will do better than he does in Guyana.
