Lenno Alexander, the guard who was charged with stealing dresses from the Regent Street store where he was employed, has agreed to pay $100,000 to compensate his former employer.
Alexander, 28, was charged earlier this month before Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty in Georgetown. The charge against him stated that on September 7th, at Regent Street, Georgetown, he stole 12 dresses, valued $60,000, from his employer (at that time) Sunil Teotia.
Although Alexander had pleaded not guilty, on Monday, when the case was called before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, he made it known that he and Teotia had discussed a settlement.
He informed that he would be paying Teotia $100,000 as settlement so that they could both move on. Teotia agreed and informed the court that he would like to be able to collect the dresses from the police station where they are lodged so that he could continue with his business.
Alexander also explained that he only had $50,000 on him in court on Monday and that he wanted to make arrangements with the court to pay the other half at a later date.
The magistrate allowed Alexander to pay the first half of the money and informed both men that on October 14th the other half of the money should be presented and handed over at the court so the matter can come to an end.
