PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – England’s Barbadian all-rounder Chris Jordan has been called up by reigning two-time champions Trinbago Knight Riders for the rest of the Caribbean Premier League season.
The 30-year-old, who has played eight Tests, 31 One-Day Internationals and 39 Twenty20 Internationals, replaces 19-year-old Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain who has returned home to fulfill domestic and international commitments.
Jordan is a seasoned T20 player, having turned out in the lucrative Indian Premier League, Big Bash in Australia, the Pakistan Super League and the English domestic tournament, the T20 Blast.
Also an excellent fielder and a powerful lower order batsman, Jordan played several matches for Barbados in the 2011-12 first class season before heading to England where he now represents Sussex in the County Championship.
He joins a TKR side currently second in the standings on nine points from six games, three points adrift of unbeaten leaders Guyana Amazon Warriors.
Meanwhile, struggling Barbados Tridents have also called up marquee Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan for the remainder of their campaign.
A highly regarded top order batsman and left-arm spinner, the 32-year-old will replace 19-year-old Nepal leg-spin star Sandeep Lamichhane, who has been called up to national duty.
Shakib, who has played 56 Tests, 206 ODIs and 76 T20Is, boasts the best bowling figures in CPL when he snatched six for six for Tridents against TKR at Kensington Oval in the 2013 season.
However, he will not arrive in time for tosday’s clash with TKR at the Oval but will be available for Saturday’s contest against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the same venue.
