Consistent performance from Guyana under-15 all-rounder, Jonathan Rampersaud ensured Parrot House was crowned champions in the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary Schools Cricket tournament on Tuesday.
In the final at Area H Ground, Parrot House defeated Wren House by 29 runs to grab the title. Parrot House won the toss and elected to bat, posting 69-5 in their allotted five overs with Jeremy Sandia top scoring with 25 and Rampersaud chipping in with 20. Wren’s principal bowler was Lucas Arthur who bagged 2-15.
In reply, Wren House were contained to 40-6 with teacher, Fredrick Hoosein playing the lone hand with 154. Rampersaud returned to take 3-6 with his off-break.
Earlier, these two teams clashed in the opening round with Parrot advancing to the final with a 28-run victory over the runner-up.
Rampersaud’s unbeaten 70 along with Davindra Balkaran’s 15 ensured Parrot posted an imposing 96-2 in their five overs with Miss Navida Persaud taking 1-25.
In the chase, Wren were limited to 68-5 with Arthur scoring 25 not out while Sandia claimed 3-5.
Wren House would then face Toucan House who were defeated by 43 runs. Wren took first strike and posted 73-4 with Surendra Ramcharitar and Arthur scoring 20 and 14 respectively while Chistopher Deroop bagged 2-6.
Toucan’s batting order collapsed in the chase as they eventually imploded at 30-8. Sir Hoosein struck a hat-trick to book his side’s place in the final.Each team comprised of two female teachers, one male teacher, three under 18 boys, two under 14 boys and three female students.
