Linden unit Silver Bullets, Gold is Money, Back Circle, Showstoppers and Tiger Bay were among the winners when the ‘Beat Dem Bad’ Knockout Streetball competition commenced Friday.
Staged at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, Silver Bullets upset Sparta Boss 3-1 while Gold is Money edged Beterverwagting (BV) 3-2.
Likewise, Back Circle squeaked past Bent Street 2-1 while Showstoppers defeated Leopold Street by the identical score. Also Tiger Bay overcame relative newcomer Avocado Ballers 3-2.
The other teams that sealed their places in the next round were Melanie-B, Broad Street and North East La Penitence. Up to press time the quarterfinal round of matches were underway.
The semifinals and the grand final will take place today at the same venue. Below features the complete list of results. Winner of the event will collect $200,000 while the second, third and fourth place sides will receive $100,000, $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.
