The Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally handed over a laptop computer to Orin Grimmond and family, during her visit to the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region over the weekend, the Department of Public Information (DPI) said.
Orin Grimmond, his wife and three children, who originally hail from the town of Lethem, Region 9, were the first family to return to Guyana from the hurricane-devastated Bahamas.
Speaking with DPI, Ally said that the donation was made following a request by Grimmond.
“My ministry has decided to make this donation to Mr. Grimmond because it believes that this will contribute to the lives of many. While he is one person, he is still a teacher by profession. So, the piece of technology will boost his performance and in return, he will be better able to enhance the lives of many youths. I would want to reiterate that the government continues to carry out its mandate; so, when citizens ask the government delivers,” the Social Protection Minister noted.
