Half centuries from Alex Algoo and Seon Hetmyer followed by a blistering spell of fast bowling from Suresh Dhanai ensured Young Warriors Cricket Club a 116-run victory over Rose Hall Community Center Cricket Club.
The third round action of the Berbice Cricket Board Stag Beer 50-over first division tournament on Saturday saw Young Warriors posting 206-8 after being sent in.
They then dismissed Rose Hall for 90 in 25.1 overs.
Young Warriors were in a spot of bother after West Indies U15 seamer, Isaiah Thorne removed Vishal Mohabir and Trevon Stanislaus cheaply while Zahir Hussain accounted for Ishwar Singh as the hosts slipped to 29-3. However, Algoo and Hetmyer forged a 70-run partnership.
Algoo played responsibly in his knock of 60 that featured four sixes before he was run out while Hetmyer struck six fours and one six in his unbeaten 76.
Dhanai made a quick-fire 21.
Ameer Rahaman who took a few quick wickets late in the innings ended with 4-29.
In reply, Dhanai returned to rock the top order with three quick wickets as Rose Hall, 3-3 at one stage quickly became 5-7 when the spinners were introduced.
Mootoosammy Veerasammy tried to blast his team out of their difficulty with three sixes and two fours before falling for 28.
Rahaman (29) and Hussain (15) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Dhanai ended with 4-19 while left-arm spinner, Stanislaus bagged 2-15 and Singh 2-2.
