Residents of Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje Berbice, were flooded on Sunday after the expected high tide. However, the frustrated residents said the relief of the floodwater receding on Sunday was short-lived as they were faced with a worse situation on Monday morning due to the koker door being left opened.
The residents stated that the worst of the flooding was on Monday morning after water entered their homes and damaged some of their items. Some said fridges, freezers and other electrical items were damaged while others noted that their gardens and livestock were also affected.
“We find out Monday morning that somebody open the koker door and left it open so the water come in back and flood we out again Monday (morning),” a resident explained.
