Bacchus Bulls on Sunday stromed to a 70-run victory over Reliance Hustlers to take the Central Essequibo T20 championship and the $50,000 cash prize.
Playing at home on the beautiful Imam Bacchus Ground under brilliant sunshine, the hosts won the toss and elected to take first strike. Bulls piled on 175-4 in their allotted overs thanks to a captain’s innings of 59 from Yougeshwar Lall. His man of the match knock saw him smashing two sixes and three fours along the way in his anchor-like innings.
Lall was supported by Latchman Rohit who also stroked two sixes and three fours in his cameo of 28 as well as cameos from Navendra Persaud (33) and Neiland Cadogan (27).
Hustlers most successful bowler was Anthony Ifill who took 2-30 in his four overs. In reply, Parmesh Parsotam skittled the top order to end with 4-18 while Cadogan returned with ball in hand to take 2-15. Punraj Singh, Lallbachand Narine and Khulraj Persaud all took one wicket. Parsotam was declared the best bowler while Mark Austin was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
