GUYANA’S campaign at the ongoing IAAF World Championships being staged in Doha, Qatar ended without a medal or a personal best performance from any of the three representatives, Aliyah Abrams, Emanuel Archibald and Quamel Prince.
Quarter-miler, Abrams, was the best performer of the trio, but finished fifth in semi-final one of three on Tuesday and failed to clinch a finals berth.
The USA-based athlete clocked 51.71s in the race which was won by Salwa Eid Naser (49.79 seconds). America’s Phyllis Francis (50.22 seconds) was second and Iga Baumgat-Witan of Poland was third with a time of 51.02 seconds. Abrams has a personal best of 51.13s in the 400m.
Meanwhile, Abrams teammates, long jumper, Archibald and 800m runner, Prince failed to get past the first round in their respective event of the 10-day meet which got underway on September 27.
Archibald, finished 11th of 12 jumpers last Friday with a leap of 7.56m, way below his personal best mark and national record, 8.12m.
The USA based Prince finished sixth of eight in heat five last Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium.
On the second day of the 17th edition of event, Prince clocked 1:48.41 failing to make it to the semis. He has a personal best of 1:45.58 in the two-lap event.
