Guyana’s most active table tennis club, Titans, has embarked on another bold initiative with the hosting of an international high-performance training camp at the club’s training facility during November 9-22, 2019.

“…In keeping with our mandate to provide opportunities for our young student-athletes to enhance their level of performance, the Titans Table Tennis Club will be hosting an international high-performance training camp at the club’s training facility, Guyana Red Cross Headquarters, Barrack Street, Kingston, Georgetown,” a press release from the club noted.

The much-anticipated camp will be conducted by Christian Lillieroos, an International Table Tennis Federation Course Conductor and Trainer who has spearheaded several successful camps of this nature.

The camp will cater for 24 local and regional players of all levels – beginners through advanced level players. The training schedule will consist of two groups of twelve players each day.

Group ‘A’ will be training from 6:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. daily while Group ‘B’ will be training from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. daily.

A tournament will be held on the last two days of the training camp to allow the facilitator to assess and evaluate the players.

Participants will be registered on a first-come basis at a minimal cost of US$200 each. The first twelve persons to register for each group will be accepted.

Meanwhile, President of the club, Dwain Dick told Stabroek Sport that the club has informed the Guyana Tennis Association (GTTA) about the camp.

Dick further noted that the Beacon Café, Kings Jewellery World and Viva Water have thrown their support behind the camp, however, he is encouraging more corporate entities to come on board since the camp presents practical opportunities for funding both in and out of Guyana.
