Herstelling, Grove Hi-Tech and Swan football teams secured contrasting wins when the East Bank Demerara Zone of the NAMILCO U17 football competition continued yesterday at the National Training Center, Providence.
Herstelling crushed Samatta Point/Kaneville 6-2. Daniel Lowe led the rout with a first half double in the eighth and 16th minute.
He was assisted by conversions from Solomon Austin, Joel Taylor, Akeem Wills and Joshua Williams in the 15th, 33rd, 35th and 56th minute each. For the loser, Kareem Richmond recorded a brace in the 44th and 45th minute.
Meanwhile, Swan FC dismantled Diamond United 3-0. Kevin Daniels and Joshua Williams [no relation] scored in the seventh and eighth minute each, while an own goal in the 23rd minute completed the scoreline.
On the other hand, Grove Hi-Tech bested Mocha 5-3. Devon Padmore accumulated two goals in the 57th and 62nd minute, while Kerwin Lyte, Rasheed Evans and Samuel Garnett scored in the 17th, 67th and 69th minute respectively.
For Mocha, Yohance Porter, Tyrich Pryce and Genesis Lewis found the back of the net in the 21st, 37th and 53rd minute respectively. The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches.
Similarly, the event will resume in the Berbice, East Coast Demerara and West Demerara zones. The Berbice section will be staged at the Esplanade Park in New Amsterdam.
The East Coast Demerara and West Demerara sections will be hosted at the Victoria Community ground and Den Amstel ground respectively.
