The Guyana Oil Company Limited (GUYOIL) on October 3, 2019 hosted a Cancer Awareness forum for employees as part of several activities planned for the month of October.
A release from GUYOIL said that the forum was held at its Kitty Service Station boardroom. The speaker at the event was Cancer Specialist Dr. Mujahid Ghazi from the Cancer Institute of Guyana.
The release said that employees were enlightened by Dr. Ghazi about the different types of cancers, their causes, cures, preventative measures and self-examination. Dr. Ghazi also cautioned employees to take their health seriously. He noted that most cancers are curable once addressed at an early stage but this required early detection. Early detection can only be made once yearly examinations are done for both men and women, he noted.
