The Under-20 football teams of Fruta Conquerors and Santos will face-off in the final of the Limacol football competition following semifinal wins on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Both teams required penalty kicks to overcome their respective foes and earn their places in the championship match.
The Tucville based Fruta Conquerors unit edged Mocha based outfit Riddim Squad 4-1 after regulation and extra time ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Fruta Conquerors were perfect from the distance, scoring four consecutive attempts while the Riddim Squad shooters struggled from the penalty spot, failing to score on three occasions.
Prior to the penalty win, Riddim Squad seized the early lead as Orville Stewart netted in the 27th minute. The lead would remain intact heading into the halftime interval.
However, Jermaine Garrett levelled proceedings in the 76th minute to send the match into extra time. Similarly Santos bested traditional foe Pele 4-3 from the penalty mark after full time resulted in a 1-1 tie.
Prior to the eventual conclusion, Mark Jhalu handed Pele the lead compliments of a penalty conversion in the 10th minute.
The grand final will occur at the same venue on Saturday. The losing semifinalists will battle in the third place playoff.
Winner of the event will pocket $400,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
