The body of an unidentified man was discovered yesterday morning on the foreshore of the Abary River and police in Region Five have launched an investigation.
Commander of the region Yonette Stephens told Stabroek News that the body was found by a fisherman yesterday morning and he alerted the police. The discovery was made around 9.30 am.
This newspaper was told that the body did not have any marks of violence and Stephens said it was unclear whether it was decomposing as she did not view the body herself.
The body is currently at the Fort Wellington Hospital mortuary awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
