Transport Sports Club (TSC) skipper Alvin Mohabir produced another match-winning effort to guide his side to three-wicket win over hosts the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) Friday evening under lights and take the U15 series 2-1.
Heading into the contest which was tied one game apiece, DCC won the toss and elected to bat. The host fancied their chances after posting 141-7 at the end of their 30 overs with national U15 players Jonathan Van Lange (31) and Jaydon Campbell (24) being the main contributors. Shequan Walters (23) and 32 extras were all major contributors to the score.
TSC’s bowling effort was spearheaded by Daniel Goolab (2-17), Mohabir (2-37) and Dellon Ramaroop (2—25) who shared six wickets among themselves.
TSC, in response, reached 144-7 in the final over to scamper home with Mohabir remaining unbeaten on 47, leading his side to the series honours.
The skipper was supported by Riyad Latif (10) and Dave Mohabir who was left unbeaten on eight. The latter strolled to the crease with 16 needed from two overs and struck two crucial fours to reduce the target to eight runs needed from the final over.
Mohabir then struck two fours to seal the victory for Transport.
Nick Raganauth (2-19) ended as the chief wicket-taker for DCC in a losing cause. The host didn’t help their cause after they gave away 45 extras.
