A driver from Port Kaituma was granted his release on bail by a city court on Tuesday  after he denied a simple larceny charge.

Leon Goodman, 38, was brought to the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts after it was alleged that on October 8th at Market Square, Port Kaituma, North West District, he stole a Master Cylinder valued $60,000 and a servo, valued $85,000, which were the property of Dellon Lord.

The father of five pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.

Police allege that Lord had parked his truck on the road and left. When he returned to his truck, he noticed the items were missing and immediately made a report at the Port Kaituma Police Station.

Goodman was later arrested for the crime.

Police Prosecutor Quinn Harris made no objections to bail in court but he requested that conditions be applied if bail were granted. He asked that the defendant reports to the same police station he was held at every Friday at 9 am until the conclusion of the proceedings.

Goodman was released on $40,000 bail with the condition suggested by the prosecutor and he assured the magistrate that he would comply with them. He was advised to make his next court appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on October 17th, when the case will be heard before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
