Fresh off a decent performance in the Tour of Tobago, Flying Ace Cycling Club’s Balram Narine will not have to worry about funding his career due to the intervention of SMiLE Designers Guyana.

The dental company, headed by Dr Dhanraj Budhai, has accepted that responsibility for the 21-year-old rider from Berbice.

In fact, it was this company that aided Narine in his venture to the twin-island republic where he finished 11th overall with a best placing of fourth in the first of four stages.

Speaking to Stabroek Sport, Budhai said:“Narine is a very nice young gentleman who is very passionate about his cycling and talented, I have seen some of his races and I am impressed with him.”

Budhai added that it has become a tradition of the Corriverton-based cosmetic and general dentistry clinic to give back to the community and have chosen the young rider for this year’s venture.

The dentist noted that this sponsorship will see Narine getting his ticket purchased when he wants to participate in overseas competition and funding for him to ride in Georgetown as well as gear in an effort to help him advance his career.

Meanwhile, coach Randolph Roberts said the young man welcomed the sponsorship, noting  that Budhai has always been willing to help whenever the need arises.

Roberts said that this development  comes at a time when cyclists are struggling to make ends meet adding that now Narine will no longer have to worry about his career being stifled due to lack of finances.

Narine expressed his gratitude to the team at SMiLE Designers and indicated that this serves as motivation for him to continue to push for the top in his cycling career and show that their support has not gone to waste.
