Dear Editor,
I am always looking for a positive story to write about our country because there are many negative stories.
I am happy to write about two observations in the past week. The first one was regarding my visits to Gafoors in McDoom and Farfan and Mendes in Providence.
In both of these stores, the customer service is par excellence in comparison to other stores.
My first observation is that Gafoors and Farfan and Mendes have everything: excellent customer service, clean restrooms, reasonable prices, wonderful staff, complimentary drinking water and Gafoors just added complimentary WiFi for customers.
Shopping at these stores is an amazing and refreshing experience. Shopping at these stores feels like shopping at Home Depot or Walmart.
My second observation was the Guyana Police Force was out patrolling all week at Stabroek Market Square, approximately 30-40 police officers were present.
It was the first time in my life that I felt safe, protected and comfortable around the market. Even though when nightfall came and the lights went out due to blackout, I still felt safe.
Kudos to Gafoors’ and Farfan and Mendes’ excellent and exceptional service and the police for protecting the citizenry.
Yours faithfully,
Anthony Pantlitz
