As part of the U.S. commitment to partner with all of Guyana, US Ambassador Sarah-Ann Lynch (right) traveled to Region 1 and met with officials there.
She was warmly met, a release from the US Embassy today said, by Mayor Chris Phang from Mabaruma. Lynch enjoyed her first visit to beautiful Region 1; she saw first-hand the challenges facing the region as it continues to receive increased numbers of migrants fleeing Venezuela, the release added.
The ambassador visited Region Seven on October 8.
The visits come in the wake of a joint statement by the US, the UK and the EU on September 19 saying that the government is functioning in breach of the constitution.
