The partly decomposed body of a man known only as `Fulla’, with a plastic bag tied over his head, was found in a trench at Patentia, West Bank Demerara yesterday morning.
Region 3 Commander Senior Superintendent Linden Lord confirmed the discovery, which was made around 9.45am at Patentia Front Street, to Stabroek News.
Lord said the police were called to the area after residents discovered the body in the trench.
At the time, the body was only clad in short blue jeans. There were blisters on the skin and the face was swollen around the eye.
The plastic bag was also tied around his head.
The body was removed and taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home to await identification. Up to late yesterday afternoon, no one had turned up to identify the remains.
Lord explained that while an investigation has been launched and several persons in the area were questioned, the police are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine whether there was foul play.
