Powerhouse Georgetown ended their disastrous run in this year’s SBF Petroleum-sponsored Cricket Guyana Inc Jaguars 50-over Franchise League with a compelling 181-run win over East Coast at Lusignan.
The win was set up by the batsmen who carried the city side to 271-9 at the end of their allotted 50 overs. Top order batsmen Joshua Persaud (44) and Raymond Perez (44) both missed out on recording half centuries but laid the platform for the middle order to operate freely.
Skipper Leon Johnson capitalised by caressing five fours and three maximums to complete a knock of 68 while Jeremiah Scott – an exciting up and coming talent – struck two sixes and a four on his way to 58 which carried Georgetown to a respectable total.
