Since its debut in 2017, Miss Berbice/I’m a Big Deal Beauty and Empowerment Pageant has become the most anticipated event in the ancient county. This third edition of the pageant is expected to be bigger and better that the last two years.
While the pageant has always encouraged beauty, glitz and glam, the last competitions saw participants afforded the opportunity of bringing awareness to issues that are important to them and trying to find solutions to tackle the same.
Currently the contestants are undergoing training in preparation for the November 30 pageant. Training is managed by Shenelly Kendall. This year’s pageant will feature four segments and commences with the sashing ceremony followed by the swimwear, costume competition and the main event which focuses on the contestants competing in the talent, evening gown and intelligence categories.
As part of the mandate of the pageant, the contestants have to be involved in community projects to raise awareness of their platforms. This edition of the Miss Berbice Pageant has seen them leaning towards issues such as crime, suicide, domestic violence, and teenage pregnancy.
The swimsuit leg of the competition is slated for November 23. Over $500,000 in cash and prizes are up for grabs.
