A 38-year-old Bartica resident, who was tried in absentia, was on Thursday sentenced to six months in jail for stealing a metal grill door.
The charge against Collin Miller stated that on August 28th, he stole a metal grill door, valued $35,000.
At the conclusion of Miller’s trial, Magistrate Rondell Weaver told the court that the evidence of the prosecution’s witness proved to the court that Miller committed the crime. She subsequently sentenced him to six months in prison. Miller was not present in court at that time.
During his arraignment, Miller had said that he recently came from Bartica and was staying with a man who sent him to collect a door. He said, “The man send me to collect the door and it sound like the door is he own.” However, he later learnt that the door was stolen.
