Guyana joins int’l oil regulators group

Guyana has joined the International Offshore Petroleum Environment Regulators (IOPER), an international regulators group whose help it will be seeking as it accelerates preparations for crucial oversight of the oil and gas sector as the expected start of production has been moved to next month.

86 graduate from police recruitment courses

The Guyana Police Force on Friday welcomed 86 new constables into its ranks and Commissioner of Police Leslie James urged them to always keep the law in mind when confronting whatever challenges they may encounter as they embark on their new journey as law enforcers.

Pouderoyen, Beavers record victories

Former FIFA International Referee Otis James was elected to the helm of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) yesterday when the entity staged its Electoral Congress at the Pegasus Hotel, Kingston.

Annandale trounce President’s College

Defending champions Annandale maintained their perfect record in the GuyOil/Tradewind Tankers Secondary Schools Football League, downing President’s College 6-4 on Friday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue Omari Glasgow led the way with a hat-trick in the 19th, 45th and 66th minute, with Collin Henriques the next best scorer with a double in the 12th and 34th minute.

Dear Editor, In a letter which appeared in the Stabroek News on October 31st, Mr Hamilton Green (Hammy), a former Mayor of Georgetown and also Minister of Works and Hydraulics (W&H) under the PNC government, expressed his disgust and trepidation at the callous clogging of drainage channels in the city and its environs as well as the filthy condition of the esplanade/bandstand and seawall east of the Pegasus Hotel.
