Eagles mauled Hurry ATE 6-1 when the West Demerara Football Association (WDFA) leg of the NAMILCO U-17 Championship continued yesterday at the Goed Fortuin ground.
Hurry ATE broke the deadlock in the 12th minute compliments of a Joshua Jack header following a corner-kick.
The aforesaid conversion proved to be the only noteworthy moment for Hurry ATE as six unanswered goals were recorded in the 60-minute encounter.
Kareem Harris levelled proceedings eight minutes later, blasting a powerful effort past the goalkeeper from inside the penalty box after racing onto a pass.
Eagles then soared into the lead in the 25th minute as Telbert Baptiste scored the first of three eventual goals, directing his powerful header past the custodian after latching onto a corner-kick.
Troy Skeet made it 3-1 in the 35th minute, uncorking a thunderous strike from 28 yards out in the centre of the field into the far corner of the net. This was quickly followed by a Baptiste conversion in the 37th minute to seal his brace.
Francis Persaud then got into the ‘goal-rush’, slamming his effort into the back of the net in the 48th minute. The scoreline was sealed in the 65th minute as Baptiste grabbed his hat-trick with a well-placed shot into the right side.
Meanwhile, Uitvlugt defeated Wales via walkover after the latter failed to arrive at the venue. The event continues at the same venue today with a solitary match between Pouderoyen and Den Amstel from 11:00hrs.
