A 45th minute strike in extra time from eventual Most Valuable Player (MVP) recipient Darius Chester, propelled St Agnes to a 1-0 victory over newcomer Genesis in the final of the Courts Pee Wee U-11 Football Championship.
Chester sealed the team’s maiden title in their second finals’ appearance [the first was in 2016] at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, with a powerful shot into the lower right corner from the left side of the field.
With the win, St Agnes walked away with a 55-inch flat screen television, the championship trophy and medals. Genesis received a 43-inch flat screen television and the second place trophy and medals.
In the third place playoff, Soesdyke defeated Tucville 1-0. Jaden Tasher scored in the 49th minute. Both teams received a 32-inch flat screen television, as well as trophies and medals.
In the individual side of the presentation, Chester copped a tablet for his MVP award. Sundya Grandison (Genesis) copped the Best Goalkeeper title while Jamal Fraser (St Pius), with 18 conversions, walked away with the Highest Goal Scorer accolade. The aforesaid duo also received tablets for their exploits.
Troy Wright of the victorious St Agnes unit walked away with the Best Coach accolade.
Meanwhile, West Ruimveldt received the Best March Past award while the Most Disciplined Team award went to St Stephen’s.
