Debutant Vurlon Mills Football Academy (VMFA) were crowned the East Bank Football Association (EBFA)/Ralph Green Under-11 football champions, defeating fellow debutant Riddim Squad 2-1 in the finale yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
It was a comeback victory for VMFA, led by a double from eventual Most Valuable Player awardee Malcolm Hendricks in the 14th and 28th minute.
Jaheam Lewis initially gave Riddim Squad the lead in the fifth minute.
With the result, VMFA walked away with the championship trophy and replicas while the losers pocketed the runner-up accolade and the respective replicas.
Meanwhile, in the third place playoff, former winner Timehri Panthers clawed their way past Kuru-Kururu Warriors 3-1. Estevan Medina, Shaquille Caleb and Jaden Tasher scored in the third, 14th and 15th minute respectively.
For the losers, Levi Matheson recorded a consolation goal in the 20th minute. Both teams were awarded medals for finishing in the third and fourth position.
In the individual section of the presentation, Diamond United’s Rick Ramotar copped the Highest Goal Scorer title with seven goals, while Shakel Marshall of VMFA walked away with the Best Goalkeeper accolade.
The Best Coach accolade was collected by victorious tactician Vurlon Mills while the Team Sportsmanship Award went to Riddim Squad.
