A second vagrant was on Monday evening stabbed to death on Regent Street, Georgetown and the police have since arrested a Bourda resident for questioning.
The dead man has been identified by the police as Samaroo, 40.
He was stabbed several times including in his face and chest during the incident which occurred around 10 pm on the Regent Street pavement.
A police source informed Stabroek News that the suspect of Cummings Street, Bourda was arrested minutes after midnight yesterday at his home.
At the time the suspect had injuries to his fingers. A search was also carried out in his house, in an effort to locate the suspected murder weapon but none was found.
The police in a press release yesterday said that investigations revealed that Samaroo was lying on the pavement when a man, who was dressed in a dark coloured shorts was seen stabbing him before escaping on foot.
Samaroo’s body was found lying face down on the pavement.
The incident is the second to have occurred within a day.

Investigations, the police had said, revealed that the man was last seen alive around 10 pm on Sunday at Bourda Market.
The discovery was made around 5.30am. At the time, there was an incised wound to his neck.
This incident was captured on surveillance footage.
While there has been no arrest in relation to this matter as yet, sources told Stabroek News that investigators will be questioning the suspect in relation to both murders.
