A man yesterday admitted to killing his brother in 2016 following a row over their family shop in Sophia.
Orin Jules, 30, admitted that on June 18th, 2016, at Sophia, he unlawfully killed Dexter Jules. Although Orin was charged with murder, when he appeared before Justice Sandil Kissoon at the High Court in Georgetown yesterday, he pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter.
He is expected to face sentencing on November 19th.
On the day in question, Orin and his brother got into an argument after his brother reportedly blocked him from entering the family shop. Subsequent to the argument, Orin allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed his brother.
Dexter, who was 23-years-old at the time, was stabbed several times to his body, including to his chest. He subsequently collapsed, while Orin was apprehended by public-spirited persons following the attack and handed over to the police.
