This Saturday the Lusignan Golf Course will come alive as the El Dorado Rum Classic tees off from 11.00 hours.
The longstanding partnership between El Dorado’s parent company, Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) and the Lusignan Golf Club goes back over two decades and was renewed yesterday at the company’s Diamond, East Bank Demerara office.
Present at the ceremony was President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Aleem Hussain who received the sponsorship cheque from DDL’s El Dorado Brand Manager, Maria Munroe and Management Trainee Sara Ramjohn.
Hussain said, “Despite the fact that golf has grown to be amongst the top recognized sports in the country, it is our partners’ loyalty that has given us the opportunity to rise to this level and we are committed to ensuring that they retain the top honours they deserve.”
The tournament is usually one of the top events of the year and fans of both golf and El Dorado brands are treated to a sample of the best that the partners can offer.
It will feature three categories namely 0-9; 10-18 and 19-28 along with prizes for the Longest Drive and nearest to pin while the Best Aged Golfer Award will be introduced.
Captain Chen Deo said that the tournament would have a staggered start commencing at 11 am to accommodate the number of projected players.
