Sparta Boss, Gold is Money, Showstoppers, Future Stars and Leopold Street secured victories when the inaugural Rio Indoor Street-ball championship continued on Saturday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Sparta Boss crushed Kingston 5-0. Gregory Richardson led the way with a first half hat trick in the second, sixth and ninth minute. Contributing goals in the 13th and 15th minute apiece were Dennis Edwards and Deon Alfred. Likewise Gold is Money blanked Gaza Squad 5-0.
Michael Pedro tallied a hat trick in the fifth, 10th and 12th minute. Other goals came off the boots of Keifer Brandt and Jamal Pedro in the eighth and 13th minute each.
Similarly Showstoppers brushed aside Albouystown 6-2. Dexroy Adams scored twice in the 13th and 15th minute, while Luiroy Nienelder registered a brace in the seventh and 17th minute and Delon Lanferman smashed a double in the sixth and 19th minute.
For Albouystown, Shaka Jones and Devin Dooker found the back of the net in the fifth and eighth minute each. Meanwhile Future Stars bested Stabroek Ballers 5-2.
Kevin Cummings amassed a helmet trick in the ninth, 12th, 14th and 15th minute. Assisting with a goal in the second minute was Jamal Cozier. For Stabroek Ballers, Seon Taylor recorded a double in the fourth and sixth minute. Also, Leopold Street overcame Broad Street 3-1.
Mark Jhalu bagged a brace in the ninth and 18th minute while Okenny Fraser added a goal in the 16th minute. For the loser, Akeem Sam netted in the first minute. In other results, Sophia battled past Island All-Stars 3-1 while Alexander Village needled Melanie 1-0. The event continues at the same venue on November 21st with another round of matches.
