(Trinidad Guardian) Ramrajie Gobin, 49, who was discovered hacked to death at her home in Golconda on Sunday was described as an “Angel.”
Gobin was the mother of two, who are both grown adults.
On Sunday at about 4 pm, Gobin’s son found her chopped to death on her bed.
Up to late yesterday, police were still looking for a close male relative, who they believe can assist in their investigations as they received information that not only he was seen lurking outside her home earlier in the day but also that Gobin had called her daughter and told her that the suspect was at her home threatening her.
Gobin, who lived at Ridgewood Gardens, Golconda, had taken out a protection order against the suspect a few months ago.
Gobin was described as “the perfect mum” who supported her daughter and son continuously and one who would always make sure that they are guided along the correct path.
A relative told the Guardian Media that Gobin’s tragic death has brought nothing but shock and sadness. “She always had a smile…her mantra was don’t let people dim your light because your light shines in their eyes…always press forward and remain focused,” the bereaved relative added.
The relative claimed Gobin’s life was threatened on many occasions and added that she did lodge several reports in the police station, however, they believe more could have been done to protect her.
Gobin was described by her daughter, Anita, as a “beautiful soul”, a person, who was “ beautiful inside out.”
Relatives said they are eager for justice and hope that “justice comes quickly.”
