Pouderoyen and Buxton Stars secured quarterfinal berths when the Turbo Energy Drink Knockout Football competition continued on Sunday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
The West Demerara side defeated Pele 2-0. Stephon Jupiter converted from the penalty spot in the fifth minute, firing his effort into the right corner, following a handball infraction.
The contest was effectively sealed in the 15th minute following an own goal, as a cross from the right side from Kwesi Alleyne, was inexplicably directed into the back of the net by the challenging defender.
Meanwhile the Buxtonians battled past Camptown 1-0. Jumacy Major scored the lone goal in the 35th minute, directing his header from the back post into the back of the net, after latching onto a right-sided cross.
The event continues today at the same venue with another round of matches. At 19:00hrs, Uitvlugt will oppose Buxton United u20 while Mahaica will battle Georgetown Football Club (GFC) from 21:00hrs.
