Alfred Taylor, a 23-year-old mason who robbed two minibus passengers of a total of just over $130,000 in valuables, has been ordered to serve a six-month sentence after he admitted his guilt.
It was alleged that Taylor robbed Keith James of a $97,000 cellphone, a $3,000 silver band and $6,000 cash, and that he robbed Akash Persaud of a $27,000 cellphone, on June 27th at the Stabroek Market Square.
Taylor had denied the allegations and his trial was scheduled to begin yesterday. However, after he was brought before Georgetown Magistrate Dylon Bess, he opted to change his plea. He was subsequently sentenced to six months in jail.
