A 19-year-old, who was arrested for threatening his sister, was sentenced to six months in prison yesterday after he admitted to escaping from police custody.
At the commencement of his trial in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court Six, Daniel Boutrim opted to change his plea from not guilty and admitted to the charge, which stated that on March 17th, 2019, at the East La Penitence Police Station, he escaped while being in lawful custody for the offence of threatening language.
Magistrate Dylon Bess subsequently sentenced him to six months in jail.
At Boutrim’s arraignment, the police prosecutor had informed the court that the teen was recently released from prison after serving time for unlawfully wounding his sister. He said that shortly after Boutrim’s release, he proceeded to threaten his sister once again. She informed the police, who apprehended Boutrim and the youth later escaped.
