Three years after allegedly wounding a co-worker, resulting in the man’s left arm being amputated, Ryan Lowe was yesterday faced with an attempted murder charge and remanded to prison.
Lowe, 34, was not required to plead to the indictable charge that alleges that on November 23rd, 2016, at the Eccles landfill, East Bank Demerara, he wounded Leroy Cummings with intent to murder him. The charge was read by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
According to police, the two men were working at the landfill in Eccles when the attack occurred. It was said that Cummings was asleep when Lowe, who was drinking with others, approached him and started hitting him. Once Cummings was awake, Lowe began questioning him about some items he allegedly took from him. He subsequently dealt Cummings several stab wounds and escaped. One of the stab wounds resulted in one of Cummings’ arms being amputated.
Lowe managed to evade the police for three years before he was recently caught. The prosecutor noted that a medical report and a statement are still to be collected for the police file before he requested an adjournment.
Lowe was remanded to prison until December 11th, 2019.
