Ramdhani siblings grab silver, bronze at ACAC tourney in Canada

Siblings Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani placed second and third respectively in the male and female singles competition during the 2019-2020 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) tournament over the weekend in Olds Alberta, Canada.

According to a press release, Narayan, Guyana’s top male player, representing Kings University Eagles lost in the final to Nicholas Pittman of Concordia 19-21, 21-13, 16-21. He had defeated Tayler Walsh of Nait 21-15, 21-17 in the semi-final after beating John Li of Nait 21-13, 21-17 in the quarter-final.

 In the female singles, little sister Priyanna Ramdhani defeated Connie Juang of Nait 21-10, 21-18 in the quarter-final but lost the semi-final 17-21, 7-21 to Concordia’s Johnna Rymes. Priyanna returned to beat Kings’ Abby Leddis 21-17, 21-18 to take third place.

 In the mixed doubles, Narayan partnered with Abby Leddis to beat his sister and Troy Morgan 21-15, 21-16 and settle for fifth place while Priyanna and Morgan ended in seventh. This was the first time the Ramdhani siblings had played against each other.

A release from the Guyana Badminton Association said that both players performed very competitively and while this was their first face off, they had no issue giving their all since the shuttle comes first on the court.
