Quincy Evans, who was charged in September with attempted murder after he allegedly chopped another man, yesterday faced an unlawful wounding charge after the first charge was withdrawn.

The new charge was read to Evans by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday. It is alleged that on August 28th, at Gordon Street, Kitty, he unlawfully wounded Joshua Williams.

The previous charge against Evans alleged that on the same day at the same location, he wounded Williams with the intent to commit murder. This charge has been withdrawn.  According to police, on the day in question, Evans and Williams had an argument. As a result, Evans allegedly whipped out a sharp instrument, which he then used to inflict chop injuries on Williams. Williams was later rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was a patient for three days before being discharged.

Evans’ next court hearing is at a later date in December.
