Just over a week after his co-accused was freed, Dereck Bailey, one of two men separately charged with causing the death of four-year-old Ambeka Providence in a collision at Sheriff Street in 2016, was freed of the charge yesterday after a city magistrate dismissed it due to insufficient evidence.Bailey, of Lot 14 Sisters Village, West Bank Demerara and Heeranand Boodhram, of Lot 336 Sachi Bazaar, Prashad Nagar, were charged separately for the offence.
It was alleged that on September 10, at Sheriff and Garnett streets, Bailey, who drove motor car PMM 1426, and Boodhram, who drove pickup truck GPP 3500, motored in a manner dangerous to the public, thereby causing the death of Providence.
