Newly-elected president of the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners’ Association (GGDMA) Andron Alphonso has called for unity in the mining industry and for members of the organisation to project a single front to promote their interests in Guyana.
His calls were made at the GGDMA’s Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, where Alphonso was elected unopposed to succeed Terrence Adams as president, a GGDMA release stated.
Alphonso acknowledged that he needed to meet with the new executive to chart the way forward, and to outline a number of issues facing the industry, including a continuation of the fight to ensure that policies detrimental to the industry were not adopted
