Josephine Mitchell lead singer of Josie and the Flames unleashes her first production, ‘Burning Desire’ tonight at the Pergola Restaurant at the Courtyard Mall.
Josie, who hopes the event will become an annual one, said, “It is structured around the promoting of music, art and poetry. However, it is designed also to promote interactions with the patrons through mystery games and giveaways for those who take part. Our main aim is to promote and build a new atmosphere for all creatives, to help them grow in great confidence and to become better versions of themselves.”
All of the artists involved in this affair are Guyanese. However, the event is not set aside for Guyanese performers only and future shows will see both local and international participants. Among this year’s participants are Kamalita Heralall, Dillon Craig, Esther Nankoo, Nigel Butler, Owen Scipio, Kezyah Bhola, and Mawali Bishop.
Josie headlines the event and other featured singers and musicians are Abel Stokes, Aisha ‘A-TayJah’ Taylor Jones, Lerone Souvenir and Tiffany Bonner. The two featured poets are Jaime ‘Suru’ Meyers and Renata Burnette. Andrew Campbell’s Ebesowana Natural Foods will be the featured local initiative of the night.
This production also includes an open mic session that persons are encouraged to take advantage of.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Pergola Restaurant at the Courtyard Mall, Howard’s Restaurant, and Chetsons on Wellington Street. Tickets cost $3,000 and include finger foods, a glass of wine and complimentary Jell-O shots. There will be food and cocktails on sale also. Burning Desire starts at 7 pm and the dress code is semi-formal.
Josie took the opportunity to thank her sponsors: Chetsons, Tower Suites, Suri, Moksha, Howard’s Restaurant, 474 Tiki Bar and NJ’s Printery and Stationary Supplies.
