Lady Panthers defeated the Guyana Police Force [GPF] 3-0 when the second annual Guyana Football Federation’s Always Women’s Championships commenced Saturday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
In the event’s lone fixture, Bliz Hope opened the scoring with a 13th minute strike. The lead was then doubled in the 55th minute when Alball Marquez netted from the penalty spot.
The result was then sealed in the 60th minute as Shavey Rueben found the back of the net. The tournament was officially scheduled to commence on November 23rd at the same venue but some teams failed to show up leading to two walkovers.
Female players from six clubs drawn from West Demerara and the Georgetown Football Association are participating in the 11-a-side tournament. Last year’s tournament was a seven-a-side one.
