The Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School (AW&HWAES) is now the recipient of a Certificate of Accreditation issued by the National Accreditation Council of the Ministry of Education here for institutions
According to an AW&HWAES release, the school, which is based at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport. Ogle, East Coast Demerara, offers a Level 6 – Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, along with its Completion Certificate for Licence Application for aspiring Aircraft Maintenance Engineers and is the first institution in Guyana to be certified.
The institution began its accreditation process on September 7, 2017 by applying to the National Accreditation Council of Guyana (NAC-G) for institutional accreditation of its Ab-Initio and Modular Programmes.
This exercise necessitated the engagement of management, staff, faculty and students in a critical assessment of its operations in order to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This meant a thorough self -examination of its operations, focussing on quality of service, meeting customer needs and engaging all stakeholders in ensuring that the school’s vision and mission responded directly to the students’ needs. A self-study was conducted to meet the five criteria of the National Accreditation Council of Guyana’s Ministry of Education that sought to demonstrate how the AW&HWAES works towards its vision as well as achieving its aim and objectives.
All this effort culminated on Wednesday, November 27, when the school was informed of its success in meeting the criteria and it qualification for approval.
The Art Williams and Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School offers upon Completion of its Ab-Initio Programme, an Associate Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering along with Completion Certificates for Theoretical and Practical Courses which are pre-requisites for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Licence Application, the release added.
