Investigators are in possession of “sensitive” information and are hoping for a breakthrough soon as they continue to probe the more than one-week-old Agricola, East Bank Demerara (EBD) shooting which left one man dead and a teenager wounded.
This is according to Crime Chief (ag) Michael Kingston, who when contacted for an update yesterday afternoon remained tightlipped.
“The investigation is still continuing…we have some sensitive information at hand which we don’t have to divulge for obvious reasons…..we want to see if we will get a quick breakthrough,” Kingston said.
Kingston added that investigators also have “an idea” about the motive for the shooting but refused to divulge any details.
The police, in a statement, had said that Seon Bobb, 24, of Eccles, was shot and killed while teenager Daniel Webster, of 105 Caesar Street, Agricola, was injured during a shooting, which occurred on Caesar Street around 6.29 pm on November 23.
Relatives had told this newspaper that the shooting took place between Second and Third streets.
Police investigations had revealed that two suspects, who were identified as ‘Plucking’ and ‘Big Life,’ were armed with handguns and discharged several rounds in the direction of Bobb.
Bobb, police said, sustained a gunshot injury below his chin. Webster at the time, police added, was in close proximity to Bobb and was also shot. He suffered a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.
They were both picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where Bobb was pronounced dead on arrival. Webster remains hospitalised.
Webster’s grandfather, Collin Forde has said that his family is also seeking answers on the shooting.
Forde had said that his grandson was on his way home from football practice when he was caught in the crossfire.
Just last Friday, Kingston had told Stabroek News that investigators have been unable to obtain any eyewitness statements in relation to the matter.
He had explained that the police visited the community but were unable to obtain any statements from residents as to what exactly transpired.
“Residents are not forthcoming as to who did what,” Kingston had said.
One suspect, a 30-year-old of Brutus Street, Agricola was arrested in relation to the matter. However, he has since been released and the police were said to be looking for at least two other individuals for questioning about the crime.
