The trial of an East Canje, Berbice labourer, who is accused of murdering a United States-based Buxton woman in 2015, commenced on Wednesday.
The charge against Imran Ramsaywack states that between March 25th and March 26th, 2015, he murdered Samantha Benjamin.
Ramsaywack is on trial before a 12-member jury and Justice Sandil Kissoon at the Georgetown High Court. When the case was called on Wednesday, state prosecutors Abigail Gibbs and Mandel Moore called witnesses to present evidence in the matter.
The matter is expected to be called again on Monday for continuation of the trial.
Benjamin was a US citizen and proprietor of a boutique in the Vendor’s Mall on Water Street. The dismembered body was found at the Annandale foreshore on March 26th, 2015. Later on the same day, the head, legs and arms were found at the foreshore.
